‎Early Life and Background

‎Kagame Fred Karekezi, widely known by his artistic name Fresco, was born prematurely at seven months on July 28, 1993, in Gitega, Burundi as a refugee. His birth was a miracle—doctors had advised his mother to terminate the pregnancy due to severe complications. However, his mother, Nyiratabaro Judith, a devoted nurse and woman of strong faith, refused. She carried the pregnancy to term, and Fred was born—a true survivor from the very beginning.




‎He was raised in a loving, educated family of seven children, led by his late father, Karekezi Thadde, a respected historian and MBA holder, and his nurturing mother. After the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, The family later relocated to Rwanda, where Fred spent most of his upbringing.

‎He completed his primary education at La Colombière and APAPEC Irebero in Kigali, then attended Collège Saint André for secondary school. His passion for communication and storytelling led him to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at Mount Kenya University in Kenya, which he earned at the age of 22 in 2015. He later pursued and completed a Master’s degree in Supply Chain and Logistics, combining media knowledge with operational strategy.

‎Fred Karekezi is a Christian. He was baptized in the Catholic Church as a child and later embraced Pentecostal teachings, deepening his personal relationship with God. ‎Fresco began writing music in 2006, inspired by iconic hip-hop lyricists such as Nas, Eminem, Jadakiss, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and The Notorious B.I.G. In 2009, he recorded his first official track, "28.07", a deeply personal song symbolizing his birthdate and the miracle of his survival.

‎From that moment on, he forged a musical journey rooted in street poetry, emotional truth, and African consciousness. His music touches on life’s paradoxes, survival, personal battles, and the power of hope.

From 2019 , He Pursued other carriers and stopped writing and singing music for good , now he's a producer of Audio and Video Materials.
